The RFE/RL team is searching for our next Multimedia Producer who produces a variety of programs using varied production techniques with a view to maximum efficiency and quality. He/she operates all studio equipment and digital audio and video work stations, directs production, and contributes to design of programs. He/she strives at all times to ensure the highest possible technical quality of broadcasts. The Multimedia producer is willing to rotate in performing various roles and learn new technical tasks. He/she assists the Line Producer, Senior Multimedia Producer and Executive Producer in finding and creating content for the broadcast and associated web and social media sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches and edits video to make sure all elements in the rundown are ready for air. Gathers news content from services at RFE/RL as well as pushes Service’ content out to other services. Responsible to stay on top of news and events, develops and cultivates extensive contacts, prepares information and data to enable high quality interview with guests and well-known personalities. Gathers videos elements for use during associated interviews.
  • Works closely with the Line Producer and the Executive Producer to make sure video and graphics are in the Try Caster and ready for daily air.
  • Directs and produces a variety of programs (including special events, commentaries, news reports, features, audio programs) using varied production techniques.
  • Operates DAVID and other audio equipment ensuring faultless radiophonic quality and adherence to professional radio standards.
  • Directs the production of live and recorded radio programs in assigned RFE/RL studios. In consultation with broadcasting, selects music, bridges, and other sound cuts to be incorporated into programming.
  • Contacts correspondents as directed, records and times program contributions made by them. Draws contributors' attention during or immediately following recordings to apparent mistakes, such as mispronunciations or poor enunciation.
  • Prepares production reports. Edits audio material for broadcasts. Verifies editorial output. Edits pre-recorded tapes. Voices scripts for recorded and live broadcasts. Processes and dubs program segments and complete programs for future broadcast.
  • Takes responsibility for the operational state of studios and equipment used for recording or live broadcast sessions.
  • Performs related duties as needed. May act as substitute for other comparable roles e.g. video editing and line producing.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Undergraduate BA degree in communications or journalism helpful but not required if candidate possesses the equivalent in experience.

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the relevant technical discipline working in a media company.
  • Previous experience working in a multicultural or a multinational environment; or experience living and working abroad, preferably in relevant RFE/RL target regions.

Competencies:

  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and demonstrate that s/he is results oriented.
  • An interest in international events and politics and familiarity regarding the situations in RFE/RL's target countries is desirable.
  • Creative ability to enterprise and innovate in order to cultivate diverse contacts.
  • Must be highly organized and communicate clearly and directly.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, with excellent interpersonal skills needed to build positive relationships with team members as well as with external partners and outside broadcasters.

Languages:

  • Fluent proficiency in English
  • Broadcast Region language - native level
