We are hiring a temporary Staff Accountant (with full benefits) reporting to the DC Finance Accounting Manager. You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions incl. journal entries, support schedules, revenue recognition, bank and balance sheet account reconciliation preparation, analysis of variances, audit and 990 support, backup support for accounts payable and payroll processing.
The assignment is planned for a minimum of 4 months. The incumbent can apply and be considered for other vacancies if they become available.
In this role you will:
- Prepare journal entries and provide journal entry support for the monthly recognition of accruals, amortizations, allocations, prepaids, and deferrals ensuring meeting established deadlines.
- Review HR benefit billings and create allocations to cost centers.
- Make bank deposits and prepare journal entries for the recognition of bank deposits and transfers.
- Prepare account reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts for review incl. support work and resolving discrepancies.
- Provide support for monthly and year end closing, ensuring accuracy of financial statements prior to audit.
- Provide support for the annual audit work.
- Provide backup to accounts payable processing and payroll processing.
- Ensure proper record retention.
What you bring:
- 3+ years of relevant corporate accounting experience, preferably with an international non-profit organization.
- A degree in Accounting, Business Management or Finance from an accredited college.
- ERP software proficiency, solid computer skills with advanced working knowledge of Excel.
- Proven ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks, manage workload independently, meet deadlines, analyze deficiencies and identify/implement process improvements.
- Ability to collate and present financial data with clear support documentation.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
- Experience handling confidential, sensitive data with a high degree of discretion.
- Excellent organizational, communication skills and attention to detail.
- Being a team player, ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service.
- Dependability, reliability.
- Proficiency in English.
